Eco-Friendly & Green Products

Many paint manufacturers are becoming eco-friendly and going green without compromising product performance.

In 1990, Congress passed the Clean Air Act which to regulate various sources of pollution, including those classified by the Environmental Protection Agency as volatile organic compounds (VOC). VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. VOCS are emitted by older paint formulas and solvents, as well as many other household products.

To reduce these toxic emissions, paint manufacturers have formulated low or no VOC latex or acrylic latex paints. The change from oil or alkaline base to water base paint has allowed many harmful compounds (such as cadmium, lead, mercury, chromium, asbestos) to be removed.
